We are incredibly grateful to the passionate community group Team Koala, who recently presented Friends of the Koala with a generous $5,000 donation to support the expansion of our Northern Rivers Koala Hospital.
The presentation was also recently featured in local media, highlighting the incredible community effort behind Team Koala’s fundraising and the importance of expanding specialist wildlife care in our region. The donation was presented on World Wildlife Day, a fitting moment to celebrate the people and organisations working tirelessly to protect our precious wildlife. Team Koala’s fundraising efforts, supported by their dedicated members and the wider community, are helping to build momentum for our Northern Rivers Koala Hospital Expansion Campaign during our 40th anniversary year.
The expanded facility will allow us to improve diagnostic capabilities, increase treatment capacity, and enhance research that supports the recovery of koalas across the Northern Rivers. With hundreds of koalas admitted to care each year, our hospital is one of the busiest of its kind in New South Wales, making this expansion an important investment in the future of koala conservation.
While significant funding is still required to bring the project to life, community support like this is an important step forward and demonstrates the strong local commitment to protecting our region’s koalas.
