Friends of the Koala’s Annual General Meeting
All members (and guests) are invited to attend and celebrate Friends of the Koala’s achievements over the past 12 months and to elect the 2019-20 Management Committee. Brief position descriptions are available as well as nomination forms. Whilst all positions are declared vacant, we are seeking in particular a Treasurer, who will be assisted by our Assistant Treasurer, and a Vice President who would like to become President in 2020, but all nominations are welcomed.
You can also hear from our Guest Speaker, Josey Sharrad from IFAW, with whom we have a Memorandum of Understanding. Josey is a Wildlife Campaigner for IFAW (International Fund for Animal Welfare) who began her career with IFAW UK, Josey has amassed almost 20 years with IFAW working on issues ranging from protecting elephants from the ivory trade to rescuing penguins from oil spills, and she was instrumental in the high profile campaign to ban fox hunting in the UK. In 2012, seeking out a fresh challenge and more sunshine; she transferred to IFAW's Sydney office to head up wildlife campaigning in Oceania and instantly fell in love with Australia’s unique wildlife and is determined to shine an international spotlight on its plight. IFAW’s partnership with Friends of the Koala forms a core part of that mission. Josey is also on the board of directors for the Wombat Foundation, dedicated to saving the critically-endangered Northern Hairy Nosed Wombat. You will also hear more of IFAW's significant investment in koalas in our Region.
Time: 6 PM for dinner at the Workers Club in Keen Street, Lismore
Cost: We pay for our own dinner but it’s reasonably priced
